Michael Nixon
Founder, EduKits
Michael Nixon is an Australian inventor, designer, and entrepreneur from Wagga Wagga. He is the founder of EduKits and the creator of products including Code Kit and The Amazing Annoyatron, developed to help young people explore coding, electronics, and creative technology in practical, engaging ways. His work has reached learners in more than 120 countries, with a focus on helping the next generation become creators of technology rather than just consumers of it.
Michael founded EduKits in regional Australia and built the company around a simple idea: technical learning should be hands-on, approachable, and exciting. What began as an early effort to make emerging technologies more accessible to young people grew into a broader education technology business spanning coding software, educational kits, and workshops.
He first gained national attention through pitch competitions and startup programs, winning the Beyond Bank Regional Pitchfest in 2016 and the National Australia Post Regional Pitchfest in 2017. In 2018, his work received further recognition through both the NSW iAward and National iAward.
Michael has also been recognised for science communication and young leadership. In 2020, he was named a Breakthrough Junior Challenge finalist, and in 2021 he was included in Australiaβs 30 Under 30.
When not studying at Stanford University, where he is completing a BS in Mechanical Engineering (Product Realization) and an MS in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence), Michael continues to guide the direction of EduKits. His work sits at the intersection of engineering, software, education, and product design, with a focus on helping the next generation become creators of technology rather than just consumers of it.
