Over the last four years, EduKits has been delivering workshops for kids, giving them often first-time experiences with new and emerging technologies. A focus of the workshops has always been to provide families with access to fun and interesting technology-based activities. We’ve run workshops in coding, game design, electronics, 3D printing, rocketry, aeronautics, VR and AR.
The arrival of COVID-19 presented significant challenges to organising and running in-person workshops. Venues came impossible to book and the ability to run workshops with shared equipment became redundant.
To overcome these challenges in 2020 we moved our workshops online. With our preference to deliver programs high-engagement programs that involve children interacting with physical items (eg 3D printing, codeable objects, rockets etc) we had to come up with new workshop formats to resolve the issue of remote delivery and children being provided with the hardware prior to the sessions.
Our solution to this problem has been our Amazing Annoyatron coding experience. Under this program, children are provided with one of our signature coding kits for hire which they use to participate in workshop events. One benefit of our running our sessions online and having recorded content made available has been greater flexibility to catch up on any sessions families may ordinarily have missed due to clashes between event dates and their other commitments.
Children who are residents of NSW are able to make payment for participation in our coding experience at no cost with their Creative Kids Voucher. Our coding experience includes hire of 1 x Amazing Annoyatron kit, free shipping, 20 x projects and special live-streaming education events.
