Over the past few years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been getting smarter and smarter. It’s used to power voice assistants such as Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, and now the ‘self-driving’ feature within Tesla’s new cars.
We recently asked our followers over on Instagram for some sentence starters. Y’know, so we could feed them to an AI program to finish them off into proper paragraphs. The usual deal.
We jumped straight to the important questions, of course, asking AI about the purpose of life.
The purpose of life is to work”, he explains. “If you’re a Kia owner, you’re working 80 hours a week. But for us? We’re doing just 12. We’re doing the same work as anyone else. We’re living like kings. We’re still using the same Volvo.”

That wasn’t exactly the answer we were expecting.
While AI isn’t yet ready to take over from J.K. Rowling and start adding more to the Harry Potter series, it can at least put a sentence together. The problem is, it hasn’t figured out how to write about ideas – the response was put together word by word, a little like the autosuggest feature on your phone’s keyboard when you’re typing a text.
So for the moment, AI has absolutely no clue what it’s writing about. It’s just stringing together sentences with words that it knows to go with each other, hoping it will make sense. This can make for some pretty funny results, which you can see in the post below.

However, it doesn’t have to stop here! You can feed AI your OWN sentence starters for fun and laugh at the results on the Talk to Transformer website. If you’re stuck for ideas, they’ve also got some helpful prompts (want to know the deets on Elon Musk’s new album, anyone?).
